What is the UMTeenz Coding Program?

The UMTeenz Coding Program is a comprehensive coding program designed for teenagers aged 13 to 20. It aims to teach fundamental programming concepts and skills using Python as the primary programming language.

Who is eligible to participate in the program?

The program is open to teenagers aged 13 to 20 who are interested in learning programming. No prior coding experience is required to join.

What will teenagers learn in the program?

Participants will learn essential programming concepts such as variables, data types, control structures, object-oriented programming, algorithms and data structures. They will also gain practical experience through hands-on coding exercises and projects.

How long is the program, and how often are classes held?

The program is held every month on Saturday only.

Attendance requirement and flexibility?

Students are to be informed that the courses are sequential. For instance, if a student attended the first class on 7 September 2024 but is unable to attend the second class on 14 September 2024, they can opt to attend the second class on 12 October, 9 November, or 14 December 2024.

It is important to note that students cannot skip class; they must complete the second and third classes before progressing to the fourth class.

What is the structure of the class?

For UMTeenz, we offer module-based classes consisting of two categories: Beginner and Advanced. Those who wish to take the advanced classes must first complete the beginner class.

Do we need to complete the beginner level before choosing the advanced level?

Yes.

Where will the classes take place?

Classes will be held at computer lab, FSKTM – Universiti Malaya Kuala Lumpur providing a conducive learning environment.

Is the program conducted in English?

Yes, the program is conducted entirely in English to facilitate language learning alongside coding education.

Is there any prerequisite knowledge required to enroll in the program?

No prior coding experience is required to join the program. It is designed for beginners, and participants will be taught from the ground up, starting with basic programming concepts.
